A hoverboard. A crown. And the long, luminous road between them. Annastasia Mason, Ms. Universe® 2025/2026, has no interest in the woman she used to be.
There is a particular kind of courage in choosing, after everything, not to return.
Annastasia understands this intimately. Three years ago, a hoverboard
accident — the kind of absurd, domestic misfortune that has no business altering the trajectory of a life — left her with a brain injury, extensive dental
damage, and over a year unable to drive. But the most disorienting wound was the
subtler one: standing before a mirror and meeting a stranger. She still struggles with this daily as she strives to reconstruct her smile.
For a woman whose world has long orbited the stage, the spotlight, the studied choreography of public presence, the loss of external identity was seismic. “There
were and are moments I couldn’t/can’t face my own reflection,” she says, and the confession
carries the weight of someone for whom reflection — literal and metaphorical —
has always carried currency. “Visibility without purpose is empty.” The Reconstruction
Recovery, Mason will tell you, was never really about just restoration. Guided by faith, anchored by love for her family and an unlikely serendipitous connection, she moved — slowly, then with still gathering velocity — toward something more radical than
recovery: reinvention. “It was and continues to be, truly about discovering who she could become,” shesays of the woman emerging from that particular wreckage. The distinction matters enormously to her.
Today, Annastasia Mason holds the Ms. Universe® 2025/2026 title and has, many months after receiving her title, assumed the role of Executive Director of Universe International® — the
organization behind Ms. Universe ®, Mrs. Universe®, Miss Teen Universe®, Ms. Senior Universe®, Mr. Universe®, and their global extensions. But the role she has inherited, she has also quietly been dismantling and rebuilding from the inside. The old scaffolding — its rigid hierarchies of perfection, its narrow choreography of desirability — is gone. In its place: advocacy, visual rebranding, a foundational repositioning of what a title, and the women who wear them, are actually for.
Platform as Purpose
Alongside her reign, Annastasia founded Positively You™ Empowerment Studio, a
space dedicated to serving others by offering pathways through education, creative expression, and what she describes as a reclaiming of the divine crown we are each granted at birth, through total transformation. Her online course, Beauty From Ashes©, operates on an elegantly simple premise: that trauma is not a conclusion. That it is, in fact, a beginning.
Her academic foundation in Art Education and Psychology gives her fluency in how humans construct identity — how symbols carry meaning, how narrative shapes the self. She understands, in the most visceral possible way, how quickly
those constructions can collapse. “Empowerment isn’t about pretending you weren’thurt,” she says. “It’s about standing in truth and choosing not to be defined by the
damage no matter how scary that can seem.” She is careful, too, to include herself in this — the failures, the mistakes, the downfalls that have been as formative as the triumphs.
”I want women to stop negotiating with self-doubt. To stand in their truth
and say, ‘Not today. I AM WORTHY!”
The Season Ahead
Now well into her reign, Annastasia moves with the kind of deliberate momentum that suggests she is finally exactly where she is supposed to be.
An international empowerment retreat in Italy — possibly France — focused on healing and human connection, in the works. Collaborations with global fashion designers. Two magazine launches. A cosmetics partnership timed to coincide with major fashion weeks. Eachinitiative follows the same blueprint: pair outer expression with inner restoration. Beauty as vehicle for visibility — not its destination.
Her motto, Kindness is Queen™, is not a softening of her message. It is its sharpest
edge. She speaks openly about faith/spirituality while refusing to make it a barrier, articulating love and kindness as what she calls “a worldwide language we are in desperate
need of spreading, daily.” Her communication style reflects this — direct, unfiltered, intentional — and it is this quality, grounded in lived experience rather than performed perfection, that has drawn thousands of women to her work across the globe.
“The crown is such an incredible honor but it is truly symbolic,” she says, with the measured certainty of someone who has earned the right to say so. “The real work happens when women recognise their worth without needing permission.” The fall, she has learned, does not write the story. Not loss, not loneliness, not failure. The response does.
What Annastasia Mason is building, with all her scars visible, is not a comeback. It is something rarer and more enduring: proof that fracture can produce strength, and that choosing to rise publicly — choosing to be seen in the fullness of what you
have survived, although a vulnerable place — is its own form of extraordinary power.
And perhaps more importantly: that when you do, you give others permission to do the same.
